33 Weeks and Counting...

We are down to just seven weeks until our due date! And things have been busy. Our little girl thought she'd give us a wake up call last week. Despite my disbelief, we had our first experience in labor and delivery. By the time I was hooked up to all the monitors, my contractions were only 3 minutes apart! The doctors quickly gave me a shot of Terbutaline, which stopped the contractions almost immediately. Needless to say, we're now getting a little more serious about finishing up our preparations.

Despite that little scare, the doctors seem to be extremely happy with Baby Rags's development. We started our weekly ultrasounds, and all is looking great. In fact, last week she was weighing a hefty 3 1/2 pounds! We also got to see her feet and little toes. Kicks are changing a bit. She's running out of space, so we're now limited to pushes, elbows and rolls. But she still seems to get in some good play time when we listen to Pachelbel and Vivaldi.

We're looking forward to celebrating this Christmas with baby. Though we're sad that Sierra won't be here to celebrate with us, we know that she's up in heaven looking over us and our baby girl.

Soccer Maybe?

It’s true – our little girl’s kicks are truly the best feeling on earth. We’ve been figuring out her routine, and what gets her kicking. Actually, on Saturday I was getting a little uneasy - it had been a very quiet day for her. It wasn’t until nearly 11p last night that she decided it was play time. She must have been well rested, because I woke up this morning to see her little feet kicking the covers! Although I try to avoid it, chocolate is a reliable source of a few good kicks too.

I’ve gotten a lot of questions about cravings lately. I guess that’s probably a good topic of conversation for pregnant women. I can honestly say that my appetite hasn’t changed too drastically. During the first trimester, I definitely had times when I had to eat “right now”. Fortunately, the last couple months have been very good to me. Beyond watching the baby kick and my belly grow, I haven’t experienced much of the traditional pregnancy symptoms. But I can tell you that there is one food that has risen to the top – pineapple! I seriously can’t get enough of it. For the first time ever, I bought myself a six-pack of pineapple juice to try to quench the craving. Must be all that good vitamin C…

Here’s some fun stuff… We picked out the stroller and furniture set for our little girl. Assuming I don’t change my mind (again), here are a few pics:

Stroller - Teutonia T-150 - the green is a bit more vibrant than the pics. I think it'll be adorable with some cute pink accents. Yes, I'm turning our baby into a watermelon.

Infant seat - T-Tario

And the furniture! We're planning to buy the crib, changing station/dresser and the armoire in the second pic.

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice!

It’s a girl! We had our 20 week ultrasound on Wednesday. Despite my efforts in the form of a sugar-filled glass of OJ, our little girl was calm as can be. But thankfully she was also relaxed in a very cooperative position. The doctor was immediately able to get a great shot, and let us take a guess at what we saw. Though hesitant, I told him it looked like a girl to me – and he confirmed!

And the shopping has officially commenced! Baby Rags has her first truly girly outfit. Our next purchase was the crib bedding. Here are a couple pics:

16 Week Ultrasound Pics

Welcome to Baby Rags!

Being that we officially hit the halfway mark, I finally decided it's time to start a blog! Our little Baby Rags has grown from an embryo, which we lovingly called "embry" to a fetus, which we also loving call "fetz". Our suprise has grown into excitement and into an amazing love.

We've been lucky to have seen our little fetz five times already! We've watched him/her grow from the size of a poppyseed to a cantaloupe! I'll post some pics of the ultrasounds soon. We've also listened to the little one's heart beat, which was a whopping 160 bpm just yesterday. It truly is the most wonderful sound that I could ever imagine.

We're also counting down to next Wednesday (9/24) when we should find out Baby Rags's gender. Of course everyone wants to know what mother's intuition is leading me to believe, but the best I can say is that I'm confident it's a healthy baby. And, boy or girl, we will love Baby Rags more than we could ever imagine!

I'll upload some pics of the ultrasounds and some growing belly shots soon.

Love you all!
